Information: The Anne Carmichael Children’s Ward at Bolingbroke Hospital was decorated with picture tiles of nursery rhymes and animals. There are thirteen painted panels in total, including Humpty Dumpty and Jack and Jill.
Bolingbroke Hospital closed in 2008 and one of the reasons it became Grade II listed in 2009 was because of WB Simpson & Sons’ tiles. The hospital became Bolingbroke Academy in 2012 and the former children’s ward is now the school’s library.
