Ramilles Street London W1

The work comprises principally black in-situ terrazzo inlaid with aluminium strips and details to an 8 storey staircase and landings plus a basement shop and ground floor cafe area to match, including other shelf and wall details in the same material. There are also external panels and steps also laid with black terrazzo.

The designers specified this material and finish to combine and complement the contemporary design of this art gallery refurbishment. This material is notoriously difficult to lay as the black colour presents many technical difficulties not experienced with lighter colours as well as the on-site problems associated with black dust. Over time and through a proper cleaning regime the floor will mature and produce a fine black traditional piece of work.

The building is open to the public to view.
